Troubadour Music presents Declan O’Rourke in his debut Australian tour 2008. Declan O’Rourke’s much anticipated April tour of Australia is a first for the Irish songwriter but also a sort of a homecoming as he spent his childhood years in Victoria. It was also the place he first picked up the guitar and the inspiration for the title of his debut album ‘Since Kyabram’.

Declan is a multi award winning artist who has toured with many of the finest artists around, included amongst these are Paul Weller (The Jam), Snow Patrol and Paul Brady. He has also appeared at the world renowned 100 Club in London.

For all the gold discs that a career in music may offer, having your peers praise one of your songs must rank among the greatest of accolades. With ‘Since Kyabram’ Declan had the pleasure of Paul Weller remarking that if he could’ve written one song in the past 20 years it would be O’Rourke’s ‘Galileo’. This accolade may indeed be one that O’Rourke experiences more often in the future because it’s hard not to see many more artists respecting his songs and wanting to put their own interpretations on the music of ‘Big Bad Beautiful World’ second album, Listen to Declan’s music and find yourself dreaming up a list of contenders; Springsteen, I’m sure will appear on many.

In recent times O’Rourke has swelled his sound with the RTE Concert Orchestra on songs like ‘Save Your Soul’ and ‘Whatever Else Happens’, songs that move and warm just as much with an acoustic guitar. Big enough for halls, small enough for clubs, it’s some talent that can shrink or expand their music as the occasion demands.

Declan will be touring Australia in April.
