With a line-up of local an international acts, East West Sydney 2011, will be — without exaggeration — the biggest Persian Dance Party ever held in Australia. Radio Javan’s DJ Taba (Washington D.C.), DJ Nina Las Vegas and Saman Santori (Sydney) as well as DJ Farid and MC A.J. from across the Tasman Sea (Auckland). Don’t miss the Persian Party of the year on Friday 7 October at the Factory Theatre.
DJ TABA The star of the very first East West Dance Party is Radio Javan’s DJ Taba. “Abo-Atash”, (which means Water & Fire) in Persian, is his program on Radio Javan and the the podcasts have been downloaded by 1.7 million people. Taba was born in Tehran in 1984, and moved to the US when he was 20 years old. For a generation of Iranian youth who have grown up in the West and enjoy both Persian and non-Persian music, DJ Taba blends the best of both worlds. The true East-West mash-up. Expect to go from a Persian hit into “We No Speak Americano” (which happens to be a local production by Yolanda Be Cool and Sydney DJ DCUP) www.radiojavan.com
NINA LAS VEGAS
Nina Las Vegas is part Egyptian, part country and all busy. By 2009 Nina’s dedication to playing the most exciting sounds from all over the world landed her a weekly show on triple j called House Party. In 2010 she doubled her broadcasting hours, adding Mix Up Exclusives to her radio DJ duties. If hearing her voice and favourite songs on the radio each week isn’t enough, you can catch Nina dancing behind the decks at clubs all over the country, running music workshops for young people in Australia, and tweeting (too much).
DJ FARID
He has been living in New Zealand for the past 8 years. Since then, his passion for Persian and non-Persian music has continued to develop. DJ Farid has been working his way up by hosting and being involved in Persian events. To top that, he has supported Persian artists like Afshin, Shahram Shappare, Bijan Mortazavi, Sattar, Andy and many more.
One of DJ Farid‘s Hip-Hop and R&B mixes on YouTube has reached more than 750,000 views and is continuing to grow. He is well known for his great skills in mixing Persian tracks with Hip-Hop, R&B and TOP-40 smoothly.
He has continuously proven to move and hype any crowd no matter the age and music preferences. The events that are hosted by DJ Farid have steadily evolved to become regular hot-spots for the Persian youth.
DJ SAMAN SANTORI
Saman is Sydney’s Number 1 Persian DJ and has been performing at many sold-out Persian Dance Parties. His play-list is updated up-to-the-second. His blend of Persian dance-floor classics, new Persian hits and the hottest R&B and Hip-Hop tracks is sure to set the Factory Theatre dance floor on fire.
