Mere days before embarking on their first international tour, Lady Sings it Better are storming the Factory Floor with a preview of their sassy, surprising, soulful Edinburgh Fringe cabaret.
Smashing expectations one soaring harmony at a time, six women reinvent songs by the world’s greatest male musicians. This is Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Nine Inch Nails, Queen, Leonard Cohen and AC/DC as you’ve never heard them before, masculinity mixed up in sultry female vocals.
Lady Sings it Better have entertained sold-out crowds at Slide Lounge, The Sidetrack, The Red Rattler and Adelaide’s The Promethean with their tongue-in-cheek brand of feminist cabaret.
With dry wit and a bit of ridiculous dancing, the Ladies romp through popular culture, inviting audiences to rediscover well-known tunes and discover how a lyric can change meaning when sung in a female voice. With complex 6-part harmony, the Ladies deliver ambitious and unexpected arrangements, including a 7-minute Michael Jackson medley and an a cappella version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘I’m your man.’
Accompanied by a highly skilled 3-piece band, Lady incorporates influences from pop, jazz, folk, opera and classical music, as well as musical theatre and cabaret.
Lady Sings it Better is presented by blackcat productions, young and emerging creative duo, Maeve Marsden and Phoebe Meredith.
