YOUTH LAGOON, the moniker of 22-year-old Trevor Powers, has been doing anything but sleeping since the release of his debut album. “The Year Of Hibernation” was a dreamy lo-fi breakthrough of 2011 landing in Pitchfork’s Top 50 albums of the year and set Powers off on a touring schedule that spanned four continents and over 100 shows. Having captivated Australian audiences on his sell-out tour in February, Powers returns with full band in tow for a series of intimate Splendour sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Joining Powers in Sydney and Melbourne will be Sydney four-piece SURES. Already making waves on radio after being unearthed on triple j, they’ll be bringing their blissed out guitar surf pop to the Factory Theatre. With their debut EP due out shortly, they’ve already been chosen to support Best Coast, Real Estate, Wavves and BleedingKnees Club as well as playing Laneway Festival.

Sydney five-piece BEARHUG are known for their warm tempos, hazy vocals and ringing guitar melodies that draw influence from the likes of Broken Social Scene. Their take on guitar pop is a dreamy and romantic affair, perfectly fitting with the lush sounds of Youth Lagoon. Bearhug will open the stage for Sures and Youth Lagoon in Sydney.
