O Romeo, Romeo, Where art thou Shakespeare Fans?

On the 27th of May Sydney Classic Theatre Company, in association with F&C Theatre Makers, proudly opens the doors to the companies debut production, Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’.

A tale of hot-headed youthful passion and old blood feuds, Shakespeare’s classic love tale Romeo and Juliet speaks as loudly now as it ever did. This stripped back modern production sees none of the frills and reverence often associated with Shakespeare, instead letting the heat and sizzle of the conflict and whirlwind romance speak for itself through the actors performances.

The star-crossed lover’s romance sets off a series of ill fated events, throwing the streets of Verona into chaos and bloodshed. But this isn’t just a play about love, this is a play about the firey blunders of youth, and the often tragic outcomes when it collides with the prejudices of an older generation.

The production will take place in the intimate ‘Fuse Box Theatre’. The size of the venue will help create the bridge between the audience and the text, inviting the audience to invest in this exciting adventure rather than simply observing for Romeo and Juliet is not a pretty love story.
