Red hair. Pasty skin. And more lesbian than a Birkenstock. Lily Starr is the “Beyoncé meets Amy Schumer” (her words) type of comedian you never knew you needed! Her Sydney Comedy Festival debut will have you in awe of her excellence and thankful…that you’re not her.
Lily Starr is a redheaded lesbian who is just making her way through life as expected: grasping for help but can’t because of the sunscreen and short fingernails. She’s apparently “killing it”(again, her words) with a virtually untouched degree in Secondary Education and every Beyoncé album ever made on her IPod, she says “this whole adulthood thing is pretty cray.” (L.Starr, 2016)
Lily Starr is one half of the comedy duo Catlovers which has achieved great success. In 2014 they sold out their debut performance and continued their success in 2015 and 2016 selling out their Sydney Fringe Comedy shows. Lily’s debut solo performance “You’re Welcome” combines her own observations, self-deprecation and musical comedy to tell stories of her life experience with an hilarious result. By day, she teaches the next generation and by night entertains audiences with stories about her movements (including bowel).
What she lacks in actual talent she makes up for with a great name and encouraging show title.
“She’s got everything! Definitely go see her, you’d be crazy not to!” – Lily Starr
