Guitar virtuoso Richie Kotzen burst onto the heavy metal scene as a teenager with a lightning-fast guitar technique.
After recording three albums for the Shrapnel label — including his 1989 self-titled debut, the following year’s Fever Dream, and 1991’s Electric Joy — he was recruited into the rock group Poison replacing original guitarist CC Deville.
Kotzen recorded 1993’s “Native Tongue” with the group. However, Kotzen left the band to return to his solo career not long after. That period included collaborations with fellow guitar hero Greg Howe (Tilt – 1995). By the end of the ’90s, Kotzen was also working with the multi platinum selling rock outfit Mr. Big.
Mr Big disbanded in 2002 while Kotzen returned to his solo career spawning a plethora of releases throughout the 2000’s. Releasing 9 solo albums from 2001 til 2015.
In 2013 Kotzen joined forces with two giants of the music industry. Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth, Mr Big, Steve Vai) and Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Flying Colors) to form The Winery Dogs. The power trio released two highly successful albums – The Winery Dogs (self titled) in 2013, and Hot Streak in 2015.
April 2017 will see the release of “Salting Earth” Richie’s 22nd solo effort which for the first time in his illustrious career steers him across The Pacific to Australian shores for a very special East Coast Tour.
Kotzen will perform 3 electrifying shows in Australia come August 2017 covering material that spans his 28 years of being at the top of his game not only as a guitarist but a songwriter and vocalist.
