Mistletone is rapt to present the return of Parquet Courts, playing a Sydney Laneway Festival sideshow on Wednesday February 6 at the Factory Theatre.

Parquet Courts are back with all the dynamic punk passion of their groundbreaking new album Wide Awake!. Produced by Danger Mouse, Wide Awake! is an album about independence and individuality, collectivity and communitarianism. The songs, written by Andrew Savage and Austin Brown and elevated to even greater heights by the dynamic rhythmic propulsion of Max Savage (drums) and Sean Yeaton (bass), are filled with their traditional punk rock passion, as well as a lyrical tenderness. The record reflects a burgeoning confidence in the band’s exploration of new ideas in a hi-fi context. Parquet Courts recently released a Wide Awake! Remixes EP featuring legendary NYC D J Danny Krivit and two club mixes by Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current, etc).

“Parquet Courts are one of the best bands in the world right now, and records like Wide Awake! are a welcome reminder that they have no shortage of ideas to ensure they keep their standards high”- Double J

“Joyfully absurd, danceable rock music. It is straightforward but alien, simple but endlessly referential.” – Pitchfork, 8.0

“‘Wide Awake!’ is an indelible underlining of their status as one of the most important bands in the world right now.” – NME ★★★★

“A near-perfect album that swallows the tensions we hold and tries to unravel them.” – Beat, 8.5/10
