Sometimes known as the best live rock band in the country, and other times the drunkest, Front End Loader are back with a new slab of down-your-throat-n-try-to-keep-it-down hard rockin’ tunes engineered perfectly for modern day living.

Front End Loader’s history is littered with critically acclaimed releases, critically acclaimed shows, and a critically acclaimed lack of attention to what is needed to be successful in the music industry. Thankfully, for their own peace of mind, this does not seem to bother them. With almost 20 years as a unit, they remain as tight in bonding as they are in rhythm, and have maintained their musical integrity if not their ponytails and their penchant for “foot on foldback” stage antics (which was always difficult when the foldback was suspended from the ceiling).

Peg are a spikey yet melodic melange of whirling rhythm and extended chords held together by literate yet proletarian lyricism. Centred around Sydney’s Sandringham Hotel, PEG’s live shows were the stuff of legend—passionate, visceral, revelatory—and yet despite being the band-most-likely they were never able to gain traction outside of their committed inner-city fanbase.

Perhaps victims of being hard to pigeonhole, certainly subject to the limited touring options that the pre-national triple j landscape afforded, the band never made the transition to interstate recognition. But those that saw them play went on to form bands, mix records, put on shows, programme radio, but mostly speak in hushed tones of the muscular integrity of PEG in full flight.

Front End Loader & PEG play the Fusebox at the Factory Theatre On December the 7th and are joined by Spiderling, a bass-laden krautrock-ish juggernaut.
