OH XMAS! UP YOURS! IT’S OPEN SEASON ON SANTA

X-Ray-Spex’s 1978 album ‘Germfree Adolescents’ is – let’s face it – one of THE greatest UK punk albums ever made. OK! But what ever happened to X-Ray-Spex sax player Rudi Thompson?

Well, he’s in Sydney, and following a recent X-Ray-Spex full house celebration in Melbourne, Rudi has decided to play those great songs again in Sydney with an all-star band.

Poly Filler and The Plastic Bags draw members from Celibate Rifles, Psychotic Turnbuckles, Filth, Blood & Roses (UK) and Bosom when they play Fusebox, upstairs at Marrickville’s Factory Theatre, on Saturday, December 21.

This ain’t an Art-y-ficial cover band. Hell, no! These folks are all obsessed with X-Ray-Spex. So please Let’s Submerge with the sounds of Poly Filler and The Plastic Bags.

Joining them are Peter Simpson and The Vanity Project, a killer inner-west band fronted by Dubrovniks member Peter Simpson, Dom Simpson of Darker Half and members of Vo.

Expect some songs from The Dubrovniks and Spectre’s Revenge plus some from Peter’s 2017 EP ‘Return of the Dilettante’. Opening a killer Night Before Xmas will be Hellebores, a no-holds-barred combo that includes ex-members of Lawnsmell.

So don’t hope for a Silent Night. There won’t be any carols. This is straight-ahead rock and roll that’ll have you shouting: Oh Xmas! Up Yours!
