Maybe living forever isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s what Jack (Henry Rollins) starts to find, his crappy apartment becoming his crypt, and the mind-numbing tedium of everyday life only making him more disdainful of the mortal world. Then there’s his taste for human flesh, which sometimes sees him supping on bad people and unleashing his inner beast. Seeing the human race as little more than meat with a pulse, Jack has no interest to bond with anyone – and there’s little point in making friends with someone he’d eventually eat or outlive by more than a millennia. After centuries of the same, the jaded immortal’s world is turned upside down by the arrival of his estranged teenage daughter, violent thugs and the promise of what could be true love. Aided by a stunningly understated performance by punk icon and raconteur extraordinaire Rollins, writer/director Jason Krawczyk crafts a captivating character study, effortlessly straddling noir, pitch-black comedy and blood-soaked horror.
