Book and Lyrics by Gerome Ragni & James Rado, Music by Galt MacDermot

Produced for the Broadway stage by Michael Butler

Originally Produced by the New York Shakespeare Festival Theatre

Presented by Zachary Aleksander Productions

The original American rock musical HAIR is a stage work in two acts, exploring the fluid-abstract world of the 1960s through the psychedelic lens of the Flower Children. Launching Top 10 hits like Aquarius, Easy To Be Hard, Frank Mills, Good Morning Starshine and Let The Sun Shine In, you won’t want to miss the rarely-performed Grammy-winning, Tony-winning musical revolution that introduced Broadway to rock’n’roll!

HAIR looks beyond the caricature of the ‘hippie’ to find a community in search of meaning and change in an America as much at war with itself as with Vietnam. Against the backdrop of the 1968 election, as queer, feminist, environmental and civil rights movements rally against institutions in support of the war, a young hippie documents the revolt under looming threat of the draft. Villainised by the media that raised them, and facing a lose-lose election, the Anti-War Movement must win the hearts and minds of their city if they hope to transcend the propaganda.
