BluesBash is back with its 5th instalment, and it’s heading to Sydney for the very first time!
Saturday 21 November at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville.
Featuring a stellar lineup of local, interstate, and international blues acts, this will be the biggest BluesBash yet!
All the way from Clarksdale, Mississippi, USA — the rural birthplace of the blues — we welcome Deak Harp & Quicksand to BluesBash 5.
Deak is regarded as one of the premier blues harmonica players in the world, having learnt his craft from one of the true masters himself, James Cotton, who played in the famed Muddy Waters band of the 1970s. Alongside his drummer, the man they call Quicksand, they perform a raw, electrified rural hill country style of blues that will have you dancing and feeling the source of the blues itself.
Lloyd Spiegel is a multi-award-winning Australian blues legend who has been wowing fans here and overseas for well over a decade.
Acknowledged as one of the finest guitar players in the country, he writes deep and emotive songs and sings them with a booming baritone voice that commands attention.
This year, Lloyd was inducted into the Victorian Blues Hall of Fame for his career to date.
And especially for BluesBash, Lloyd is bringing Tim Burnham (drums) and Lisa Baird (trombone). The Lloyd Spiegel Trio in full flight is a show certainly not to be missed.
Karise Eden burst onto the Australian music scene in 2012 when, as a 19-year-old, she won the very first season of The Voice Australia.
This shot her to fame, with her debut album spending six weeks at #1 on the ARIA Charts and going double platinum.
She has one of the most distinctive voices in Australia, fusing blues, soul, country, and rock.
Our esteemed host for BluesBash 5 is its creator, Australian blues legend Frank Sultana. With 16 studio releases under his belt since his 2011 debut, along with a multitude of Blues Awards and an APRA nomination, Frank is one of the most recognisable and beloved blues artists in the country.
His 2023 win at the prestigious Memphis International Blues Challenge — where he became just the third artist outside North America to win in its 43-year history — secured his place in Australian blues folklore.
Since the historic win at the home of the blues, Frank has toured the US, performing in Colorado, Nevada, Mississippi, and aboard the famous Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise alongside legends like Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Kingfish, and many others.
