Sydney musicians Imogen Grist (Babitha) and Marcus Gordon (Spookyland) met on a dating app in 2021. In the months that followed, the couple formed a band and decided to tie the knot.
Bonding over a mutual affection for the classic love duets of Nancy and Lee, Sonny and Cher and Gram and Emmylou, Beth and Blue was conceived as a means to experiment with the tradition of the love song.
Each fronting their respective bands, the project is a unique exercise in co-writing lyrics, wherein each line is carefully discussed and contemplated.
Beth and Blue's debut single 'I Love You' presents a melodramatic blend of rick harmonies and the ghostly echoes of 60's country and dream pop. A naked investigation into the spectacle of love, where the loveliness and the ugliness of the other is me with surrender.
Beth and Blue will be joined by local inner west veterans Misty Lanes and Nick Griffith.
